Valentine’s Day is fast approaching! I know a bunch of people who really don’t like Valentine’s Day all that much. I admit I think it is pretty commercialised. I would much rather my significant other show me his undying love on any random day (hey, every day, if he so desires!). Whether you are a believer or not, why not take advantage of this loved up day?
Whether you have a partner or not, Valentine’s Day has
always been a day (to me, anyway) where you express your love for your LOVED
ONES. If that means you spend it telling your friends, your kids, your parents,
or the special man or woman in your life that you love them then I am ALL for
that day.
Aaron and I don’t go spending ridiculous amounts of money on
each other for V Day. But it is nice to spend some time together appreciating
the relationship we have and forgetting any of the dramas that are in our lives
right now.
I love giving gifts that just keep giving. So this year, I
have made 2014 the Year of Dates!
I made this for Aaron as a Christmas present, but it would
make a great V Day present.
Aaron does read my blog, so I obviously don’t want to share
what is inside the envelopes right now, but I will be posting here once a month
on our “Year of Dates”.
I tried to think of
12 date nights (or days). Some might be typical dates, like movies and dinner,
but some are random things that we wouldn’t normally do, or even just
restaurants we wouldn’t normally try.
Just remember to make a note of what season you will be in
at the time and whether that date is weather appropriate!
Each envelope has a note to Aaron explaining what we are
doing, maybe a coupon, or even some cash (depending on what we are doing) so
that when the time comes we don’t have to be concerned about whether we have
the money or not. Every month we are going on a date regardless.
I used my fave little program PicMonkey to create the notes
to Aaron, postal envelopes to hold them and a little basket from Kmart. It
didn’t take me very long and the only real cost was to put some cash in the
envelopes that needed it.
I added a note to Aaron explaining what the gift was all about. I just used a journaling card from Project Life, but you could make this as intricately decorated or as simple as you like.
I hope you enjoyed my little project.
I hope you enjoyed my little project.
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day or do you think it is a gimmick? Or both like me?!
Thanks for stopping by! Check out these Blog Hops and Linky Parties I'm getting involved with

What a great idea Sheridan, I love the idea of putting cash in there so when the time comes you don't have to worry about if you've got dollars or not!
ReplyDeleteI do think its a gimmick but I certainly wouldn't say no to a nice bunch of flowers! Hope you have a fabulous, loving day and I hope I do to!
Thanks for linking up with #BOTW
The first envelope only had a small amount of money in it and Aaron looked like a kid on Christmas morning when he got to open it haha.
DeleteIt is a good idea because there are so many occasions where we say no, we don't have any money and just stay home and watch TV all night.
I totally agree Jaz. I'll never turn down a bunch of flowers!
Thanks for having me ;)
Awesome idea! I might even steal it!
