What areas of your life need to be more organised or aren't quite as functional and efficient as they could be?
We are currently living in a tiny two bedroom house to fit the five of us (even if the two little ones aren't here on a full time basis). It feels so cluttered and tinier than it really is!! And all of these new Christmas presents do not help that matter.
If I try to tackle the clutter all at once, I would have a panic attack.
If you focus on one area every month the task really doesn't seem all that daunting. 2014 won't know what hit it!
If you keep reading, you will see my plan for the next 12 months to get our house in order. I'd love for you to join in and share your photos on facebook, twitter, instagram and pinterest! Use the hashtag #oneareaatatime to make it easier for me to find your projects.
I'd love to feature some of your photos/blog posts here on Me and My Ready Made Family. Please do join in and at the end of the month I will do a feature post with some of your great projects and include a linky so that everyone can link up (of course I will ask permission before featuring anyones info on the blog and credit all images with a link back to your blog or social media page).

Love your plan - it gives me framework to work by - hopefully we can get ourselves organised this year too!!! The place is a mess!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting!
DeleteGlad the plan can help out. Tell me about it. Our place is crazy cluttered. Feels like half the time the mess is just moved from one place to another!
Good luck! Make 2014 your year!!!
I love the idea of having the plan and doing one area at a time!! I keep looking at everything that I want to do and then... that's just it...I look! Although I have sorted through my numerous number of plastic tubs of teacher resources, and as I am no longer in the classroom and have little to no intention of going back, I chucked heaps of stuff as well as sold a lot through Gumtree and Facebook! So my decluttering has had financial benefits as well which has been great!! My office and wardrobe and the next places on my hitlist!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
That's a great idea Zita! I may have to start going through some items and putting them on facebook and gumtree.
DeleteGood luck with the office and wardrobe organisation! I'd love to see pics when you're done!
great plan. I need to do some major decluttering in my own tiny house. I tend to spend too much time writing the lists and doing the planning. It's more procrastination than planning. lol.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! I love making lists but sometimes I think in the time it took to write that list I could have just gone and done those jobs lol.
DeleteWow that is some serious planning you have undertaken. We live in a shoebox as well, five of us in a two bedroom place oh so cozy! We are in desperate need of a clean out here. Given that we are hitting the road in 6 months I am sure it will happen before then.
ReplyDeleteLeaving some fairy wishes and butterfly kisses from #teamIBOT
It certainly is! We are building a house this year and I don't want to take anything with us that we don't really need!
DeleteGood luck with your clean up
Thanks for the IBOT love!
Oooo I really like the idea of this, just a few things each month means I won't get bogged down and not do it! If I can't do 4 or 5 tasks a week then how can I call myself a house wife?! ;) x Emily @ Have A Laugh..
ReplyDeleteHaha Emily! I complain about the housework I do already, let alone all the added organisation!! Good point though. This is just all part of the plan to make me a better homemaker.
DeleteThanks for visiting!
Oh that's a great plan! And one that even possibly I could do! Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Jess! If it weren't simple I really wouldn't stick to it and I certainly wouldn't have time to blog about it haha
DeleteWow. Look at you. That is fantastic. I wish I could be as organised as you. It would really make a difference to things. I might have to pinch this from you :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Renee! I find being organised in the home makes my thoughts less scattered.
DeleteI'd love for you to follow along and share some pics of your organised areas :D
Great plan. I'm trying to squeeze most of the decluttering phase into January and then focus on organising in coming months. Having a plan - any plan - is half the battle isn't it!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea Kate!
DeleteIt truly is. Once I have a list of to do's, I can forget the "I'm gonna"s and just get doing!!!
I'm joining this Sheridan, I'm in desperate need of shaping up and sorting out and this is a fabulous way of doing it. It actually started keeping receipts this month, I have them all in a jar with different labels on them so I can see exactly where our money is going. I'm excited about this!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to have you join in Jaz!
ReplyDeleteIt really is helpful to keep them all together isn't it?
